People will never buy anything if they keep compare the sales from boxing days with the limited stock quantity.

Personally I think boxing day prices are still 'relevant' given in some cases the sale just ended two weeks ago. Sometimes boxing day prices are also indicative of what you can expect to be the 'hot' price in the coming months.
So in the case of the nifty fifty I'd kind of agree that at this point in time $100 is cold (as it was $10 less a week ago), $90 is warm (as the price was just that a week ago) but at this point in time anything less than $90 would be the 'new' hot.
Maybe in another month $100 can move up to warm again...but since we know that $90 is the new bottom price for this, that is the price that is now required to be hot.

The lack of offers will convince OP he overpriced his lens but comparing to the killer boxing day sale isnt fair though...add in taxes the difference is small....

Mmmm, not sure if you read his post correctly. He's not looking for offers, just confirmation that he got a good deal.
The 1.8 @ $99 is a good deal, most Cdn retailers are selling for $119 or so.
The 1.4 @ $379 is also a good deal, Cdn retailers are selling it for over $400.
Comparing to Boxing day or US deals isn't fair... cost of materials is always going up, so prices will usually be lower in the past, and the US is a cheaper market, but you also have to factor in shipping and possible duty.
You can always check prices at www.photoprice.com to see who's got the best deal around.

At 399, I would rather pick up a used sigma 50 1.4 for a little more. Personally I would go for the sigma for better iq, faster focusing and better bokeh.
