Which Canon Camera

Good evening!

I am a new poster and have enjoyed reading all the posts!

I am a makeup artist and fashion stylist in Chicago. I would really love to start doing some shoots of people and fashion because I love it so much. So the camera I am looking for will mostly be used for portraits.

So, with that said I have narrowed it down to some camera's I am looking at, but feel a bit lost with all this technology. the last time I did any kind of photography was in the mid to late 80's and boy have things changed.

My budget is slim but I would like to keep it around $600-1000. I will spend a bit more if I need to.

I am looking at the Canon T1i and the XSi. I am in love with the 85 1.2 lens but I hear it won't look as good with this body of camera. I am a bit lost as to what these body types mean? Wide body vs 1.6?

I was looking at the 5d that a photog friend has, but it's a bit heavy for me. I do love how the T1i fits in my hand, but is the most difference in those two the video? Will either of those take great fashion-y, portrait photos with great lenses? I have heard Canon's flesh tones are prettier than Nikon's. But I have no proof to back it up, just some photog friends telling me this. As a makeup artist, skin tones will be very important to me.

Sorry for all the beginner questions, I am taking a few classes at an art school here at the end of the month but looking to do some final research before I decide.
