Canon EF-S 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 IS 549 bucks at broadway camera.

Wondering the same thing. Got the 18-55 kit lens and looking for a cheap 55-250 IS. Also picked up the 50mm from BB, so I think I'm pretty set with those three lens.

I'll be selling my 55-250 IS soon. Brand new unused..

i read on canon forums and they say the 55-250 produces sharper images.. id just keep that one if you have it guys.. i also have the 18-55/55-250 combo.. $500 for this lense doesn't make sense.. its still a bad deal.

The 55-250mm IS will be a keeper! Review/post convinced me. (that along with a couple of Reward $$ and a Store Credit) This will be a nice addition to my new equipment set-up. I've been replacing my Canon XTi and Sigma 70-300mm... Next, gonna look for a T1i battery grip... (any one looking for a Canon battery grip for the XTi?).

the whole point of this (18-200) lens is convenience and versatility

now it makes perfect sense.
