Liar. I'm sure will not be only 4.3 cent, it will be more than that. They are just hiding the actual cost now.

"Motorists will pay a price at the pumps under Ontario’s new cap-and-trade system to fight climate change, says Premier Kathleen Wynne.

On the eve of Thursday’s provincial budget, Wynne said gasoline prices could eventually rise by 4.3 cents per litre‎ as the Liberals ramp up the plan to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions."

AND

"Wynne said the government expects natural gas prices to jump by about $5 a month per household."

...

"With both gasoline and natural gas costs dropping due to record-low oil prices, Queen’s Park is banking on drivers and ratepayers not being jolted by sticker shock."

http://www.thestar.com/news/queenspark/ ... trade.html

In other words, spring this onto the idiots of Ontario now before the fuel and natural gas prices go up so people won't notice. Don't forget HST will be calculated on top. Remember Ontarions, you voted for this!

Why is everyone shocked and surprised by this?

The woman campaigned that they were going to do this if they were elected.

The electorate elected them -- with a resounding majority no less.

So now it's time to stock up on the lube and put up with it and hopefully the electorate will have learned their lesson. But I doubt it.
Remember: We elect the government we deserve.

I take transit...which will also be penalized. So I don't spend a ton on gas.
However with elderly and young children in the house ...I will pay more on natgas...

Thank you Premier Wynne for these changes. I love what your government is doing. Keep it up!

I wouldn't mind carbon pricing being used as a revenue-neutral tool to curb pollution. The problem are the Ontario Liberals running this program; given their history of financial mismanagement, I know that it'll just be more money for them to squander away on eHealth-like fiascos.
Ontario is entering a carbon-pricing scheme with Quebec and California that is designed to encourage businesses and consumers to cut emissions.
Because people drive cars and heat their houses for fun.

Can't wait to see whose pockets they line with this money.

Our economy is in the dumps because the price of oil is so low, I know, I'll tax the prices back up, discourage consumption and that should help things out!
