In January, the provincial government of Kathleen Wynne introduced new taxes on gasoline and natural gas. However, most of the new charges are hidden in the price of the two commodities.

This has caused Energy Vantage to set up a new website. It is designed to help Ontarians interested in finding out how much Ontario’s so-called Cap-and-Trade program is costing them in additional heating and gasoline charges.

The website has been launched by Energy Vantage as a public service. The Toronto-based consulting firm specializing in supporting what it calls transformational energy change and solutions.

“It is regrettable that the Ontario Energy Board decided to bury these charges in the delivery line of the gas bills, despite its review of the overwhelming evidence that consumers want transparency over these costs,” Energy Vantage said in a news release.

The website also provides information about Ontario’s Cap-and-Trade plan, and ways in which consumers can reduce and use energy more wisely to reduce their overall energy costs.
