I don't see that as an option on the Cap One website. Is it a new, unreleased product?

But, you also get a $100 travel enhancement credit, which, I understand, you can use for any travel related purchase.

Great Canadian Rebates has $70 promotion running right now, where you get all the signup bonuses plus $70.
I think the travel credit is only for certain things -

$100 annual travel enhancement credit

Redeemable towards select airline seat upgrades, airline baggage fees and airport lounge passes.

That's what they say but I believe you can apply it to almost anything travel related. Best to check the HSBC MC thread to hear about some real-world examples.

Anyone have experience claiming for product assurance? Something I bought in December broke.

I'm wondering if I could claim it? My first time using this benefit so I'm still piecing together the information.

Quick research says the insurance only covers 120 days?

I made a claim quite easily for a lost product.
I was told as long as the product wasn't lost or damaged due to improper use I would get my reimbursement.
I received it within a couple of weeks

I’m finally pulling the plug on this, this week, before I am charged my first full annual fee.

I was on the grandfathered 10k points plus $120 fee plan and last year I got half the AF refunded.

I think The only reason to keep the card at this point would have been the 3 weeks of emergency travel medical. I have another card that has 15 days on it already and I rarely take trips longer than two weeks. When I did take an extra week, I found a top-up plan for about only $30 so the $120 AF isn’t justified.

I also switched to the Rogers WEMC at 1.5%.

Are there any other reasons I should keep the card at this point?

End of an era. Canceled this card this past week. Switched to MBNA World Elite when they gutted the earn rate. Averaging almost 2% back to be used on Amazon.ca or Walmart GCs. Sad to see it go! Carrying HSBC as well.

Did they try to keep you with a rebate on the annual fee?

I guess I could try for a partial or full AF rebate, but, I’m not even sure it’s worth half price at $60 since I have the Rogers card and don’t see it worth it for improvement in insurance coverage other than the long travel medical emergency insurance.

This card will likely be closed by the end of the week. I did enjoy the credit keeper credit score feature in the app though!

I cancelled my card within 30 days of the annual fee posting. I was informed that the fee would be refunded and a cheque would be sent in the mail after two billing cycles. Farewell, trusty black card, it was a good run :(

Curious as well.

Did you have to get transferred to an actual Cap 1 account specialist?

The first level off-shore rep simply said "Okay I will proceed with cancellation." I still use the card extensively with significant spend.
