I'm thinking of applying for this card.
Regarding the 35,000 first purchase bonus miles, they mention about "qualifying purchase" on their website, are there any special restrictions say minimum spending amount in order that the first purchase be considered "qualified"? Thanks for your advice.

Well, here goes another rant...
About 2 months ago my credit card was cancelled due to it being compromised. Okay, I accepted that and was quite pleasantly surprised when I received a new card within a couple of days. Of course I had to change around all of my auto pays which was inconvenient but I understood the concept of fraud prevention.
Today came along and I am planning to make a few purchases for computer equipment which I do frequently. The first one goes through okay and the next one would not go through until the third try. I then try to make another purchase but I was called by the retailer and told that it was declined. Sure enough I call Capital One to see what is going on and the fraud department said that my card had been compromised and that I would need another card. Upon questioning the agent, she said that it might have been the transactions and we went through the last transactions and they were all legit. She then said that she would reactivate the account and it should be good in about 5 minutes. I wait 20 minutes and try it again but again it was declined. On the phone again to the fraud department and was told that indeed my card had been compromised. I may have sounded like an irrational client by this time because I was pretty upset over what had just transpired. Still thinking that it was a problem with the successive failed transactions and thinking I could get this cleared up, I continued to question the agent and eventually I was willing to accept that the compromise and the deactivation of my card my have been co-incidental to my failed attempts to purchase the items. Being pretty upset at things, I continued to question the timeline that everything happened and she told me that the card wasn't flagged today but it was flagged on May 8th!
Now my questioning ramped up again. If it was flagged on May 8th, why was my card not deactivated on May 8th? She told me that probably because nobody had called me to inform me of the compromise. WTF? If there is a compromise, how do you let a card still be active 2 weeks after it's been flagged? Does this not just fly in the face of good fraud management? I don't know if something got lost in the translation of the information on her screen to when it came out of her mouth but it sounds awfully odd that they would let this type of thing go.
Anyways, in the end, I apologized to the CSR if I was yelling and understand that it was not her fault. I'm just frustrated with the whole process of having to go through this again. I still am amazed that I was told that the card was allowed to be used for 2 weeks even after the notice came to Cap1 that my card had been compromised. I only hope that I can get this card as quickly as the last one since I still need to make some purchases.

Used this card for a hotel stay overseas. Made sure to split up the charges to be near a redemption level(leaving a little room for the fluctuating exchange rate). I missed the mark by almost $10 which is fine, my fault in wanting to be on the safe side. Here's the part that surprised me and that is annoying... the amount charged to the card is different from the amount showing up in my travel redemption section. They have withdrawn the currency exchange fee from the rewards redemption area. So for example(not actual numbers) I got charged $340 but only $330 is eligible to be redeemed.
