I used a VS Xtreme for about a year, and it worked great. Very fast channel switching and top notch support. I also used this guy before, he's downtown East of 404.

I paid about $215 for mine when it first came out a couple of years ago. I paid $168 for my Viewsat Ultra last month. $89 is a very good price for the Viewsat Xtreme. Great for n00bs that are just getting into FTA.

I must advice you guys to make sure that these are not clones unit. I have been sold clones before and now they are locked out and worthless.

Plus there's no mention on globalfta that they are a Viewsat authorized dealer.

Q: If counterfeit clones are identical to the original, how will I know if I have one?

* The #1 way to tell the difference between a counterfeit and a authentic Viewsat is that the authentic Viewsats come with green colored batteries are labeled ROCKET or more recently SUPERGARD.

* Authentic Viewsats come with a card reader (except Lite). Some counterfeits will have the slot, but no card reader inside. NOTE: Some Clones include a card reader.
* Clones sellers generally sell at a lower price than normal.
* Authentic Viewsats have 4 rubber feet on the bottom. Some counterfeits do not.
* The remotes are small and some will look very different from the authentic and do not say Viewsat on them.
* The best way to detect a clone is to call 877-845-6586 or email your contact information to noclones@viewsatusa.com and a skilled rep will help you identify whether or not you have a clone.

Q: How do I know if I am buying from an authorized dealer?

A: Authorized dealers are issued an Official Authorized Dealer logo and number like the one below. They should have their logo posted prominently on their website. Dealers that do not have a website should be able to provide you with their Authorized dealer number. Would I need anything else to get this thing going? I would only be picking up FTA channels from the States and Canada with this correct? I'm just looking to set something cheap up at the cottage. I'm not looking for illegal channels etc. Just something that would be better than what I am currently picking up with the TV antenna up there.

I did buy my VS Xtreme about 1.5 yr ago. I paid $220 and I did not see any card reader on the recevier. It only has a slot. Do you think it is clone? We did buy 5 units and so far none of them has problem. Is it true the authentic VS Xtreme has card reader. Thanks.

Is the CW600S P the same as CW600S? That's the special I see on their web site.

I also presume that updating is by the includedl cable. Are there good units that update by flash drive that come close to this price?

I got a CaptiveWorks CW600S and it will reboot itself sometime. does anyone know why? or it is a normal case? thanks

yeah, mine cw600s reboot itself sometimes too...its shouldnt be a problem..i've been using it for 4 years and it works fine
