car accident! insurance advice needed.
hi there
i am a 25 year old g2 holder who has been an occasional driver under husbands name. I met with an accident 2 days ago...(my fault) .my husbands insurance rate came down last year cos he turned 25 then.
I spoke to ma insurance (Smart coverage) and they were like they will be increasing my husbands insurance. and i cannot be a primary driver on a vehicle (which mean i cannot own a car with them )and incase i am they wont cover me.
the car is a TOTAL DAMAGED and undriveable
is there any way they just not increase ma husbands insurance but increase mine and also does an insurance company exist which insuraes a 5 month old G2 licence with a fault accident claim. the names of the companies / brokers / agents would really be appreciaed..
thanks

They are increasing the premium of the policy since this policy now has a claim under its belt, so I don't think there is much you can do at this point. If worst come to worst, ask your husband to switch insurance company and start a new policy on his own alone.
For you, 1 at-fault isn't too bad, you can probably still be insured, but probably at a higher premium than before. You can try to get quotes from Kanetix.ca or similar to see if it goes through. If they don't accept you, good luck, you're better off taking the bus since insurance premium for those profiled as high-risk drivers is insane.

If you put 2 cars, then it's most likely insurance for both cars. Try it with one car and see?

As others have said, your husband's rates will go up now - that is unavoidable as there is a major claim now on his policy. I just played with the Kanetix online quoter and yes, it looks like if you had entered info for 2 vehicles into it, then the quote you see is the total for coverage on the 2 cars -- your husband the primary driver on the 1st car, and you the primary driver on the other (and not stated, but by default as you are married, each listed as occasional drivers on each other's car).
So I guess that suggests the good news is that there are insurance companies out there that might be willing to insure you on your own car, even with your newish-G2 status and recent at-fault accident. But just because they are willing to doesn't mean your current insurance company has to (and if they did, you may find it ridiculously over-priced).
Using the info you provided about you & your husband's age, location, and your driving history and taking a few ballpark guesses with the rest of the information required to complete the form, I found that adding an older 2nd-hand car for you to drive added $1200-$1800/yr ($100-$150/month) to the leased 2008 single-car quote I'd previously entered (an assumption based on replacing the recently wrecked primary car). So if what you'd punched in showed $570/month, I'd guess a single-car quote with your husband as primary and you as occasional would be about $450/month.
That's high, but then again, many people with less-than-perfect driving records pay that by themselves. At least whatever you are quoted can be split between 2 people.

thanks for ur info
yea the car he had parked and not used was a 1997 chev 2 dooor cavalier..in new condition which is manual and was parked cos i couldnt drive it
the one i lost now is chev 4 dr cavalier.that was bought by him so that i could learn on it and when i get comfy with mine he will get back his manual car and we could have individual cars.
so he was abt to get his new car cos he saw me driving confidently (OVER CONFIDENTLY TO BE PRECISE).and used to warn me abt ma racing skills...and said i wud be meeting accident soon.
i used that quote with 1997 chev cavalier and 2002 chev 4 dr cavalier
husband age:25 G(Sep2005) G2 (year before ) g1 (year before) no accidents or claims
mine: 25 g2(dec 2007) g1 (dec 2006) and graduated from ministry approved course. so if thats the rate i got..it was pretty affordable!

Well, I'll just chime in and say Bel Air Direct seems to have the lowest rates anywhere. TD Meloche Monnex also is pretty cheap, but I think there are some restrictions to getting service from them (alumni connections etc).
Try belair direct for a quote.

Can I warn you about your English skills barely being coherent enough to even be understandable?
How hard is it to type out full words in proper English, without using slang?
