Just stay away from Belairdirect! They must have introduced new prices in the system and if you do an address change, even if you move far in the bushes you're going to end up paying more than downtown.
I just had to cancel my policy started 2 months ago, back in Nov. 2009.
I just hung up with the agent on the phone. No retention attempt. No manager call. No consistency. It's like they hired some outsourced call centre to do their customer support. My prediction for them is they're going out of business with those prices! Let's just see how long it takes. This is actually my wish for them after being ripped off by one month of house and auto insurance and a $75 absurd administration fee. Actually, I'm going to cancel the CC so they die without taking that fee from me even if I ruin my credit score for a while...
If you somehow don't believe me, find one of their customers that has registered their online account, I'd say victims, and have them login their interface and use the "change address/moving" link, opt to change the postal code and enter one next door or even the same as their current one, then don't change anything else and get the results. Most probably they'll say: your "savings" are: more than $1-2000 on top of what they're already paying!
I regret the day I made that call to them, after reading some good feedback here. This has to be corrected. No further comments.Last edited by loglive; Dec 22nd, 2009 at 08:32 AM.

If you qualify for group insurance, I highly recommend going with that.
Check 'The Personal' and 'Primmum' to see if you qualify.
I got several quotes in the 'normal' market, and they couldn't beat the group rates I qualified for. YMMV_______________

Since I'm back on the market, shopping around, I would like to know if there's anyone here that used www.axa.ca to get in touch with a decent broker. I just don't know how it works, if you fill out their search form you get a bunch of addresses, some have websites some don't and I really don't know which one to pick. I could really use some advice!

insurancehotline is garbage!
I'm paying $270 for auto insurance, but when trying to find a better price with them they suggest me prices over $300 as best price I can get.
Also they are sending me emails once a month with updated(!) price which is always higher than what I'm paying/checking manual on website.
It's better to manually check/phone some top insurance companies, find them by referral.
