In-Car Movie Player Options???

Hi there...I posted this in the Electronics section but have not got any response...thought maybe the auto section might be better.

I'm wondering what options there are out there now for movie playback in your vehicle? The player will be for my son (under 1 year) who enjoys watching cartoons on longer trips. Currently we are borrowing one of those cheap in-car DVD players that you hang over the seat...it works, but we need to give it back soon.

My ideal device would actually be a screen with a USB input that could play at least AVI and as a bonus h.264..could really care less if it has a DVD drive. Not sure if something like this exists. If not, I'd even be happy with another DVD player with attached screen, but would really want it to be able to play .avi off a burnt disc.
I do have a Patriot Media Box, so another option, if it exists, would be to just get a screen that I could plug the Patriot into.

Please post some good options. As usual for this site, I don't want to spend too much on this .
