Car rental in chicago - ohare airport (ord)
My wife is going to Chicago for a few days end of March and I need a rental for her. Despite getting emails avertising car rentals for as little as $12/day, the best I seem to be able to find is a 3 day weekend rate of $145 including taxes and a Costco discount for a midsize car. Any suggestions?

priceline.com name-your-own-price
Check out betterbidding.com first to see what cars are going for at Ohare.
Checkout Hotwire.com to find out what price you could pay as a back-up plan before you bid on priceline.

Rent with Avis... use the coupon code: TUSA012 (gives renter a free day with a 3 day weekend rental, discount will be taken off at the counter)
Should work with any AWD number. Works out to be about $25-30/day with taxes.
The $12-20 deals you see online are for last minute travel bookings.

Other AVIS codes to try (i've used them successfully):
Get up to 50% off plus a free upgrade. Upgrade will not show when renting online but will be applied when car is picked up.
Use AWD#X154043 with Coupon UUWA029
The AWD code gets you 50% off and I expect the coupon code is for the free upgrade.

Hey, thanks for the responses. I've tried these Avis codes and I get the following:
Base Rate: 3 day(s) 10 hour(s) 115.16 USD
Taxes & Surcharges: 47.79 USD
Surcharge21.09 USD
- $2.75 per rental (City Tax)
- $1.25 per day (Vehicle License Fee)
- 11.1% (Concession Recovery Fee)Tax ( 20.000% ) 26.70 USD
Mileage:Unlimited
Approximate Total 162.95 USD
UUWA029Accepted (See Notes)
Coupon discounts are NOT included in the estimated total, but will be calculated and applied at the time of rental.
I've never seen this before where they're asking you to come to the counter to find out exactly how much you're paying.
On another note, I've been able to get a rate with National on a mid size car which works out to a bottom line of just under $80 U.S. using the Entertainment book one weekend day free coupon. I think we're good to go now unless I decide to try Priceline. I'll definitely check last minute though to see if these rates get better.
Thanks for the help provided.
