Car Rentals

Anyone know how I can get the best deal on a car rental in the US?

Priceline? (not even sure Canadians can book through price line)
Discount Codes?
Etc..

Thanks!

I usually use http://www.orbitz.com/ to get the rates from the available rental agencies (Orbitz shows them all in a very simple and useful table). There's usually something there at a decent rate, so I then just go to the agency's website and make the reservation there directly with them. If there's a coupon, that's a bonus...but many times, the lowest rate available by one agency is better than the after-coupon rate of another agency that has some kind of coupon.

The last time I rented, though, the published rates were pretty high (US$60/day and up)....so that time, I rented through Priceline and got it for about half the price. The main downsides of Priceline are that you can't cancel as easily as a regular reservation and the price for additional hours/days (if you happen to go beyond the planned rental period) is relatively high.
