Car Shakes at Low Speed

So, i have a 94 accord with low mileage. i have had it for more then 2 years now and never really had any major issues with it. the steering wheel used to shake a while ago but i got new tires and wheel balancing done in september '08 and everything was perfect. A week ago i started noticing that on low speeds i would say 40kph, when im applying brakes the car starts shaking and its not the steering wheel its the actual body of the car... i mean if im holding a full cup of coffee i will definitely spill it, its that much shaking

Now, if i go on the highway it doesnt shake once im above 80kph so basically it bothers me only if im going at say 40kph and im applying brakes...

the engine appears to be fine to me, i mean its not loud or anything. i drove 2,000 km with this car in december '08 and didnt have any problems...

im just trying to get an idea of what you guys think before i take it to a mechanic...

If it only happens when you're braking, my guess is warped brake rotors.

Did you guys get rain/freezing rain with lots of slush puddles a day or so before it started to happen in your area?

(Seriously guys...why are you just throwing out guesses? Engine mounts cannot be the sole cause of the problem if it occurs only when braking)

i got cv boots, ball joints, tie-rod ends, front brake pads and rotors changed last year...

I'd still be leaning to the warped rotors theory... drive through deep cold puddle from recently melted snow, etc. then slam hard on the brakes for some reason or another and you've got a possible recipe for warped rotors. Another possibile cause for it is due to over-tightening the wheel nuts/bolts (had a tire changed/rotated on your car lately?).

aaaaaaaaaaah, that makes sense ... i chaged hubcaps and i tightened the wheel nuts really hard coz i had pain in my back next day...

Is it over tightening or under? When I had my winters put on from my summers, I felt a vibration in my pedal only when braking. I immediately went back, they re-tightened everything, and it went away immediately.

If it was under-tightened then he'd probably be seeing the vibration under braking at all speeds (which I suspect is what you experienced).

There is a flat spot on your rear tires? Did you abused your tire from hand brake drift ..etc?

I remember i got some used Pirelli P800 tires those garbage tires shake the whole car around 20kph-35kph . It happens on -10 or lower tho. The worst when i drive in short trip when the tires are cold.

You can correct it by putting few sheets of cardboard on the garage floor and park your car on top of it. Some how the cord/rubber is not flexible that causing your problem.

hi... no sorry i dont go to centennial...
yes worn rear rotors seem to be the case too. my rear tires are pirelli's and it started happening when the temperature fell below -10 C... so what your are saying makes sense too...
