car vibrates at 40 km

my car vibrates at 40km. its automatic. the second i go over 40 or under 40 Km it goes away. it vibrates like i am driving a standard car when i switch gears in low rpm,. same vibration but this car is automatic. I want to know why it does it only at 40 km. i don;t think my wheels are wrapped cuz it would do it at any speed. not just 40

most likely suspension issues. alignment might be off, but make sure nothing is mechanically wrong before getting one done. does the steering wheel vibrate? Just take it in to get it looked at by your mechanic.. could be many things.

Did you get stuck in the snow lately? Ill bet you have too much snow sitting in your rims. Before you waste your time at the mechanic, take the car to the hand spray wash and spray out the wheels through the rim holes...... if it only does it at one speed then its a very good chance its snow.

I would definitely take it to a tranny shop for them to take a look at it. It could be something simple as a sensor going haywire when shifting gears!!!

I don't know what that means?
If you think it is the transmission, try putting it in the other gears, 1st or 2nd and drive at that speed. Does it make that noise or vibration in those gears? The "D" just lets the transmission shift at certain pre-determined shift points. The others are limited to stay in those gears. I don't know what car you have or what it is doing at 40 km/hr. Is it shifting? Trying to shift?
What happens when you floor it? Does the vibration still happen? You need to isolate the conditions and eliminate things.

My buddy had the same issue, but his car was vibrating at 80 km/h. Turned out to be a horribly dirty air filter. Yours may be different, but that's what i would check.

Could it be the rims for your winter tires don't fit properly?
