Carfax class action lawsuit settlement...free stuff
Class action lawsuit formed against CarFax
According to this settlement notice, CarFax, Inc. has settled its class action lawsuit for possible violation of consumer protection laws. Anyone who purchased a CarFax Vehicle History Report at any time before October 26, 2006 is considered a member of the class and can file a claim. Depending on how long you remain in the settlement, you may receive vouchers for $20 off select third-party inspections, two free CarFax Vehicle History Reports, or other benefits. See the West v. Carfax, Inc. Settlement Website for more information and claim forms. May 27 is the last day to file a claim.

Now the hardest part would be to find something worth getting even for free from Carfax.. they have horrible coverage for Canadian cars.
My car has changed hands something like 6 times according to them, in the period i've owned it.

I simply called them and asked for a refund. After an email and a phone call from someone, they gave me my money back and apologized for their service... I actually felt bad for the person who called for her job but whatever, too bad she works for a crappy company.

I was actually able to retrieve a surprisingly detailed vehicle history when I bought my car in July. All the other checks I did, however (I purchased the unlimited package) weren't as lucky.
