Carrytel and Cannet do not offer FTTN-to-home service at all. They offer lower tire VDSL service from Bell instead, meaning "fiber-to-node, telephone cable to home". Its not even called FTTN, not sure why people use that terminology. But... Bell wired a lot of condos and highrises in Toronto with true FTTM fiber, however they don't sell this service through low quality 3-rd party providers, and neither have to by law, only direct to subscribers. There are a couple of other FTTN sub providers covering mostly downtown condos.

Big deal... After one year, prices for 75/10 plan level will further drop, so you will only gain by jumping on another plan then. Smiling Face With Open Mouth
I would need a new modem for their 75mpbs plan as well.

I missed the confirmation call for the service today. WIll they call back or do I have to call them? Really don't want to wait on hold....

I started Carrytel subscription on Aug 16, and the next billing date should be Sept 14 which is the date shown on the invoice in my account. Yet I find that Carrytel charged my credit card the monthly fee on Sept 7, a whole week before due date. I sent an online complaint but there is no response ever the last 36 hours. That really make me uncomfortable about their business ethics and accounting practice.

Anyone has experienced the same?

Cancelled Carrytel the day after the 7 day trial (was within the 7 days IMO, 8 in theirs). Have yet to see any refund for the month I prepaid for. That was back mid Aug.

Many small providers charge in advance, i.e. at the beginning of your billing period. But most their clients are low income, and some have CC blocked. So if Carrytel would charge you on a due date and your card has no credit left, blocked, or expired, they would have to pay for several days of you using inet while trying to make you pay by other means before suspending your acc. They know most clients would need internet access even to talk to them, since such wait & talk is lengthy. So they do charge attempts in advance.

After a bit of a hectic start.... I'm up and running finally! Can confirm decent speeds on first testing in Kingston, ON on their 60Mbps Cogeco connection.
