Update Nov-8-2016:
1. No prepayment needed for upgrade to 50M $39.99, only one time $49 speed change fee. That's it;

2. BYOD allowed for 50M too. No 7 days money back for BYOD. One time install $79 online or $39 through reseller. ("Google is your friend").

3. All 15m/25m/50M plan $79 installation can be waived through reseller ("Google is your friend");

Compatible VDSL Modem list:

• TP-link TD-W9970
• Bell hub2000 ( Sagemcom 5250)
• Bell hub1000 ( Sagemcom 4350)
• SmartRG 505N
• Bell connection hub (Sagemcom 2864, this modem supports max 35M in router mode)
• Netgear D7000 wireless AC1900 VDSL mode


NOT compatible VDSL modem list:

• CIK VDSL modem doesn't work since it's locked to CIK
• Any ADSL2+ modem doesn't work





Please add more modem type after you tried and I can update this compatible Modem list. Or someone can do the initial thread summary to start.

I believe for the Internet 50 there's only an option to purchase the modem for $129 or rent for $6.99 per month.

However, if you have a referral from a friend, you can get a $70 credit for the installation and a $20 cash credit towards your bill if you purchase a modem. You can easily sell the modem on Kijiji if you don't need it.

Also note the price for the Internet 50 is $39.99/30 days for Ontario and $44.99/30 days for Quebec

I was looking at the other deleted thread about the 50M plan and called CarryTel yesterday asking about the referral promo code. and unfortunately was told it does not work with this promo, to apply I would need to choose another plan (like the 25M). That said, I would most likely go with the reseller who cannot be named on the forum, as their modem price is $99 vs. $129 at CarryTel and everything else being equal.

Existing customer can call carrytel to get the deal but need to prepaid for one year then billing goes back to monthly after the year. Good thing is that the plan change fee will be waived. Yes, do not mention the reseller as OP stated otherwise this thread will magically disappear.
