If you contest the charge with your credit card company this is what will happen:
1. CC company will call CT and ask for a signed copy.
2. They will say that they don't have one.
3. The cashier will get into trouble.
4. CT may check cameras to show that you passed at the cash at the time and submit it to the CC company.
You will look like a lying weasel for trying to steal 10$.
Be honest at all times. Life is better that way.

Cashier forgot to ask me to sign credit card slip. Do I hafta pay???
I just returned from canadian tire where I purchased a small item about $10. I noticed that the cashier forgot to ask for my signature. Am I still liable for my purchase?
Do you know how it works?Last edited by flito ray; May 29th, 2005 at 10:24 AM.

sometimes you wonder how cheap people can get, after reading your A&P posts and now this......
wtf is wrong with people, so cheap and trying every loophole to not pay a dime for anything they WANT.
sometimes we are better off without these type of people

i wouldnt worry about it, its not like the CC checks if all your purchase has signatures. Only if you contest, they will check. But like the other guy said, you will get caught

-
May 29th, 2005 10:51 AM #7No you said " Am I still liable for my purchase? " ... which is essentially the same.

You will get charged with fraud when they present that Canadian Tire video to your CC company, you'll get charged by CT management.
-
May 29th, 2005 11:11 AM #9You still have to pay it, you have to sign to keep the vender safe from fraud, ever notice that you don't sign for online purchases? Yeah, that doesn't mean you don't have to pay for what you buy online, it just means the liability in case of fraud is shifted to the vender, and not the cardholder.

I don't know if CT has the same system the airport does, at the airport you dont need the signature of a CC because sometimes it gets so busy that signing it takes up a lot of time i think the system is called fast cash something like that, we only get signature when we expect a tip from someone like when I work at a bar, but other then that we don't need signature
