cat dry heaving

breed: himalayan flame point
cat has been dry heaving for a few weeks.
I bought the hairball oil paste and been giving him for a couple of weeks. There was some difference but not much.

Vet is saying he needs to run some tests which means making up a big bill.

Is there anything else I can do from my side?

Beautiful B.C.
Sounds like a big old hairball, particularly when you consider the time of year and the type of cat you have. Mix a bit of ghee in your cat's food and also you can try raw egg yolk for the lecithin, which should help the hairball pass.

Pumpkin puree is a good one too.
But get that stuff thats pure pumpkin. Check the ingredients.
Do you give your cat wet food? Sometimes cats don't like drinkng water... so wet food help keeps them hydrated.
