Hey guys, im a long time lurker, rare poster. Anyways i have a sony k23 laptop, and the cd-rom wont respond anymore. I purchased it in augest. I was watching a movie off a dvd-rom that my friend burned and all of a sudden the movie froze. I ejected the disk and now when i put in Any cd it wont read. It says "insert disk in drive g:" i tried unistalling the driver, updating the driver but nothing seems to work. However the cd-rom does "read"? the cd cuz i can hear the cd spinning, but when i click the g: (my cd rom driave) it just says "insert disk in drive g:" If anyone has any suggestions feel free to comment!

additional notes:
-it is a cd burner, dvd reader
-the dvd i was watching (naruto episodes) have been watched on a few other laptops and it was fine
-and suggestions are welcome!

Try booting your machine from the CDRW drive (make sure your BIOS is set to boot from the CDRW drive). By doing this you can eliminate any problems with your operating system software. Simply use your Windows XP CD or any other bootable CD (Win 98, Knoppix, etc.).
