Cell Phone
I don't know if this is the right place, so Im sorry if its not.
Anyways my grandparents have an old Fido phone and are on the PayAsYouGo plan. $10 every month or else you loose what ever you have saved up. Well they saved up $220, and lost it all. They were sick and couldn't do it in time. Is there anything I can do to get the money back? Is it worth giving Fido a call?

Call them and talk to them.
Had similar issues with Telus where we missed the date and they took care of it.
Consequently, I got my dad on the Virgin Mobile service as they have a $15 minimum top up but it is done every 120 days. They piggy back on Bells CDMA network so it is not too bad.

Escalate the call to a management level and threaten to go to the media (i.e. silverman on city tv)... Lot of times consumer advocates love to hear of how of a senior citizen who has been a long time user of fido gets ill and can't make a top up and fido screws him over. Even small claims court is another idea but i'd sue for more then the loss amount.
I assume their payment history has all been on time and this was the first (and only) time they missed right?Last edited by hightech; Aug 29th, 2005 at 02:04 PM.

Yup, first and only time. They have had it since 1999 or so. I guess I will try to email Fido, but 50 is better than 0.
