at the very least, check the type, voltage and current the battery is supplying.
It may power up ok, but the voltage or current maybe too low or high, which would result in failure and possibly damage.
Overall, I suggest against it.

Cell Phone Brillance Needed
My BLackberry 7100x powers up fine with my Nokia 3100b battery, should I use it and is there any problems with me using it?

OP just said the voltage is the same, that rules out that possibility.. also If I recall correctly, the higher ampherage of the battery will NOT cause failure or burn out something, it will cause the phone to have a higher standby/talk times..

as long as the voltage is the same.. and the battery fits. Your good to go.. the amperage will increase talk time/stanby.
Most of those batteries are the same between cell phones and even digital cameras... good luck.
