Cell Phone For Plumber

My son is on his 3rd galaxy S8 this year. Keeps getting them fixed. Costing a lot.

He’s always in contact with boss all day so it has to be close. Today’s ended up in a sump pit.

Is there a solution to reducing his costs.

He could buy cheap kijiji phones and keep a stock pile. I’m tech, is there a phone that is cheap and easy to replace screens. A contract that allows for this? A phone case combo that takes a beating?

Open to all ideas.

I don't know of any phone insurance that'll replace a phone 3 times. Maybe just try a giant case like an otterbox or pelican?

There was an episode of some poor fishermen who can barely afford to own a cellphone let alone keep losing it to the sea. Their solution was to stick a cellphone into a sealed condom. The cellphone remained usable after that, and was impervious to water.

In that case, it doesn't prevent accidents. Just less consequences

Oh God, please do not. Perhaps there is a newer one that isn't pure garbage but everyone we've tried at our work were horrible out dated and slow as heck.

I'm not sure what Android devices would have cheap screen to replace. iPhone 7 screen replacement is pretty reasonable. Looks like a new screen sells for like $30 on ebay. Get a waterproof case and he might be good to go.

He could also look into the S7 / S8 Active line. They should be more durable but that's still a lot of screen and pricey repair when it smashes.

If he's having more issues with broken screen, try to find a flat or flatish phone (not s9) and get a decent case + glass screen protector for it.

Yeah it got wet today but mostly screens and Samsung screens are expensive. When he was young and I was paying I bought every cheap $25 phone off kijiji and had inventory waiting for the next time.

Look up CAT phones. Those are built like a tank, and will survive just about any abuse.
