$150 is a small price to pay for a phone that can take abuse.

What about the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active?
Head to the beach with this Samsung Galaxy S8 Active smartphone, and splash away without worrying about its function. The dust- and water-resistant construction is made to handle the worst the day can bring, and durable construction keeps it protected in case you drop it.

Hey OP here is a solution.

If you get a case like the Otterbox then drill two small holes in the back or where the rubber/silicone meets the hard plastic then just put a wrist strap or lanyard with a quick release on it. I do the wrist strap on my LG G4 and can't tell you how many times it has saved the phone from falling and I've seen way too many people with cracked phones or thier phones drop near me then seeing my setup wished they had that setup before that happened. Especially if you're using the phone over the ledge of a cliff/balconey which will not end well if the phone falls.

They sell coiled lanyards out there in black so it does not stand out much when you pocket the phone and coil blends with most black/dark blue outfits when you're working.

My son is on his 3rd galaxy S8 this year. Keeps getting them fixed. Costing a lot.

He’s always in contact with boss all day so it has to be close. Today’s ended up in a sump pit.

Is there a solution to reducing his costs.

He could buy cheap kijiji phones and keep a stock pile. I’m tech, is there a phone that is cheap and easy to replace screens. A contract that allows for this? A phone case combo that takes a beating?

Open to all ideas.
Like others said.. get the Otterbox defender. Seen a ton of contractor guys use this case.

Where have you seen it for $150? It’s $250 plus at first glance.

I just found this video on youtube which may be of help to others out there.

That is what I meant on drilling the holes.

My husband is a plumber. Lifeproof case all the way. He keeps his in the chest pocket of his overalls so it gets scratched up pretty good but the phone has never had a problem. The case is also waterproof. He has had an iphone X for a year. Lifeproof offers free replacement cases for a year - just pay shipping. I have probably replaced his case 5 times in a year because he has scratched the camera cover. He takes a lot of pictures so it bugs him if it is scratched. The iphone is spotless under the case.

Do not get anything with a belt clip. Crawl spaces and belt clipped phones do not work. Defender cases made the phone bulkier and heavier and more prone to fall out of his pocket.

All of the kids have lifeproof cases too. I have never had to replace or fix a phone since we switched to Lifeproof.
