Sweeeet!!! Have been looking at this backpack for a while. $125.99 (with the $10 discount)! Way better than over @200 a lot of Cdn retailers are charging!
Thanks OP!!!!!

Literally just got into the market for a travel backpack. How does this compare with other notable carry on backpacks? And does anyone have any other recommendations?

Would this pack be mainly just for carry on, or is it still small enough for around the city use?

Thanks!

Thanks OP. Bought myself for the purpose of carry on. I had a wheeled carry on but find it difficult with the check in luggage and this back pack seems amazing with the warranty as well. Great price.

FYI I received my shipping notification within a few hours. Now I'll wait to see how long it takes to get to my door. ;)

yeah i got a dispatched notification when i ordered on a Sunday at 2am in the morning! it's almost as if they want to process the order to prevent people from cancelling orders as it's already processed.

Isn't it cheaper to just buy from Mountain Warehouse? Cheapest 40L starts at $60. Rain cover included. Cheapest 35L starts at $40.

Amazon has lots of inexpensive backpacks as well, but they're not the same quality as an Osprey from the reading/research I've done, to the point I returned an Amazon one as it felt like it wouldn't survive a trip across the street.

Osprey is made mostly of nylon which is the strongest and most durable for backpacks. Another thing is it has a stowaway panel which is a huge plus.

I did five weeks in Asia with this back pack with the number one feature being carry on compliant but I also wanted the max capacity available. Its the greatest backpack for travel IMO.

The hip straps are very comfortable which is important if you are carrying a lot of weight for long periods of time.

Top and side handles. Doesn't sound like a big deal but when you are backpacking and stow your pack a lot, the side handle makes it much easier to grab in many cases. Also much easier to walk carry this bag from the side then top handle.

Zippers are lockable. Straps can be tucked away so they don't snag or catch on things. Interal straps to secure contents and exteral straps to compress contents to save space and close the flap that provides rain protection over the zippers. Side loading makes everything easier to get at unlike top loading you have to remove stuff to get at stuff at the bottom.

Perfect carry on size. I did carry on on 12 flights on that Asia trip and none of the airlines complained that it was too big.

I basically stopped using my carry on luggage and use this backpack for all travel. I also recommend travel packing cubes. MEC use to sell a pack of two small and one med that fit perfectly in this pack but they don't seem to carry that one anymore.

I used the Osprey Porter 46 while backpacking for a year. So may be worth considering if you want to squeeze out a bit more storage space (another 6L) and still fit the carry on limit. Used it on all kinds of budget airlines and never an issue on size (I did run into a weight issue one time).

For comparison, I got the 55+15L last year for $185+tx.

By the books, the 55L component is slightly too long for carry-on but we haven't been rejected yet. Good quality bags.
Where did you buy that? There's no 55L avail on the site :(

I had to contact Osprey to find where to get it... ended up at Europe Bound on King Street in Toronto. That location is closed but there is one at Trafalgar and QEW. Can be found at Sportchek and Sail but for more $$.

Edit: there are men's and women's versions. We got 1 of each.
