Change Programme Startup Order in XP
Can someone tell me how to change the order that my drivers/programmes load when XP SP2 boots?
Here's the problem:
I have a Chaintech AV-710 soundcard. The Audio Deck/Driver tends to load at random when Windows XP boots. If it loads later in the boot process after Windows has loaded several programmes into systray it works fine. If it happens to load earlier in the boot process, it seems that some of the other utilities that Windows needs to allow it to function correctly haven't yet loaded and Windows promptly de-installs my soundcard. I then get the "hey I found new hardware" prompt etc.
I would have thought that it would have been a last installed last to boot order but it seems not.
Is there a way I can force the AudioDeck/Driver to load later in the boot process?
Using msconfig I can see all of the programmes that load as Windows boots, but unfortunately I can't change the boot order or lock the boot order.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
