You climbed up an antenna tower! That was very dangerous and you just earned an apprentice spot in the circus by doing that

What happened to that tower ??
Anyways, I go up at the lowest point of entry. Chimney mount is best bet while simple. I'd also mount a 10ft mast instead of J-bracket as that adds another 8-9 feet.
Currently, I joined 2 Home Depot metal electrical conduits (masts) 1" and 3/4" inner diameter I think. The skinny one goes inside the thick one (~2ft), drill a couple of holes, screw them together...

It obviously works, but your mileage may vary due to your location in Metro Vancouver. What I did was I bought a cheapo antenna from TSCC and I only got KVOS Digital and a MSN Shopping Channel. I returned the antenna for a full refund. Where I am, an OTA antenna is useless.

Why do you say that? Whats wrong with Cityplace?
Why doesn't OTA antenna, seem to look anywhere as good as a Rogers 4250 box connected with HDMI to a TV?
Is it the old argument of Coaxial cable vs. HDMI?
I can't seem to get any OTA antenna I tried to look anywhere as good as Rogers HD boxes connected with HDMI to my tv's.Last edited by sexyblackbmw; Mar 4th, 2009 at 12:03 PM.

What kind of OTA antenna do you have? Even using a crappy coathanger antenna I was able to get HD broadcasts in full 1080i (I think thats the max). And its uncompressed compared to my expressvu. And thats just with the antenna hooked up with a crappy coax cable I had found laying around from 10 years ago plugged straight into my tv.

One option is your not scanning for channels proporly. make sure when you go into your tv menu to scan for digital air channels.
the other is being that close to the cn tower ther eis a chance your tv tuner is getting overloaded which means you need to buy an attenuator. The source will sometimes carry them. what type of antenna are you useing?

Going up on the antenna tower was easy because it was anchored in a poured concrete base and attached to the side of the house just above the 1st floor windows and again below the soffit. It was extremely sturdy and steady with no sway whatsoever.
Using a ladder, I climbed up and looked up at the chimney. I couldn't safely climb onto the roof and make my way to the chimney, therefore, I decided to mount the antenna on the side of the house below the eaves, facing south-west. I'm going to attach the cables and pre-amp tomorrow. Hopefully, my reception will be okay.
