bought maybe 6 at all.. two didnt work (pairing problem or just didnt read any code or sensors), seller sent me a new one that was working each time
Its work great, but just keep in mind that it will work for GENERIC code (maybe 40-50 sensors) on your car. You will be able to read and erase check engine and read various sensors but do airbag, transmission or specific car related stuff

edit : its won't work with VW or some Subaru and you need a car made in or after 1996

Do work fine and can send a lot of data if you have the right app.

However, I never could get them to work properly on my iPhone. The Bluetooth pairing is very proprietary on the iphone. On my android devices though it is no problem.

For iPhone you typically need a WiFi version as BT doesn't seem to work. I think it's due to Apple locking down what can / cannot be send using BT on iOS. For example, send / receive of files over BT isn't supported. Android seemingly does not have such limitations, hence why it works.

I've read once that all the knockoff ones are v1 (or 1.1) even those claiming to be v1.5
Can someone comment on the device version?

Have one for a couple years, so ordered another one, just in case. Thanks OP. For $6 you cannot go wrong.

There is pretty rare real need in such gadget in real life (beside technical curiosity), but when it is needed - it is almost priceless (aka equal to at least couple+ hundred $ of imposed garage services :) )
