Great review, calmuser... and yes I do really like your modified case
I ended up ordering the U30GT based on several comments from a few friends. The summary was: 'what will you do with it', 'where will you use it', and 'what can you do on your smart phone instead'.
...Worse case scenario is that I find the 7" cheap enough and get it anyways.

The Burning (according to rumors), is the same as the Aurora II, but with:
-1280x800 screen
-front AND back camera
-metal case
-3G
That's not much imo. Heck, I dont even need IPS so the Elf II is fine for me.Last edited by ChappyHappy; Jun 28th, 2012 at 09:23 PM.

Looking for some recommendations please
Screen: 8" (possibly 9") My 1st use will be reading magazines on it.
I would also like a durable scratch resistant screen. This might cost a bit more, but I am somewhat prone to dropping things, or casually tossing them in my bag right next to my keys. (I know you can use screen protectors for scratches, but would still prefer something like a gorilla glass).
I would like a bit of performance so I can browse the web - I tend to be the type to have many tabs open at a time. I also plan to use this either to display my stores website or create a catalogue on to take to consumer trade shows so I don't want any lag while I'm trying to show a potential customer our products. I don't plan to play many games or videos on it, but the option to run the odd movie would be nice.
Right now I am considering the Engage Scroll by Storage Options it's an 8" model with good reviews on build quality. However it's a bit more than I was hoping to spend. It converts to about $255 shipped. I'd love to do it under $200, so any other options are much appreciated.

I'd get the newer dual core Ramos W13pro for $150 shipped:

ChinaPost is ridiculous
I took a dive and ordered something from Merimobiles. So for all those Chinese people that keep boasting about how awesome their country is despite all the unfortunate news on them.. here's ChinaPost compared to Canada Post
June 13th: Ordered a tablet from Merimobile
June 19th: Notified that the order was shipped with a tracking number
June 24th: E-bay shipping tracker shows status as "posted in Guangdong on June 22nd." (WTF does that even mean?) ChinaPost website tracking showed no record of such a tracking number.
June 26th: E-bay shipping tracker shows status as "Departure from outward office of exchange in Guangdong on June 23rd." ChinaPost website was repeatedly down whenever tracking is queried.
June 27th: Canada Post shows package has arrived for inspection by customs. ChinaPost shows "Departure from outward office of exchange on June 23rd" (in Chinese, which I can read)
June 28th: Canada Post shows package has been released customs. (Checked tracking 10 minutes after it was updated)
Yes, I checked my tracking pretty much every hour since I received the tracking number from June 19th until it landed in Canada. And from the logs above that's how slow ChinaPost updates their tracking compared to Canada Post. So to my Chinese friends that brag about how wonderful China is. There you go.
In any case, if anyone's interested in the shipping times with these sites, I'm just posting here for my experience with ordering from Merimobile.

Don't know anyone who brags about how wonderful China is...
What seems to be the problem though. That's how ordering from China is like. Sometimes it arrives in a week, sometimes in 4 weeks. Don't trust the tracking until it says Arrived in Canada on the CP website... Even then CP has horrible tracking.

Canada Post's tracking is pretty bad too. After their tracking showed my tablet had been released from Customs in Vancouver, it didn't update until it was out for delivery in my town- about a week later. And this was with Xpresspost.

Yes I heard ChinaPost sucks, if you can upgrade, go with HK Post or SG Post for just a little more, faster shipping, website that works with quicker tracking.

Thanks for the link. I did find that one while searching, but it's easy to lose track and forget with so many options. It seems to have everything I need. $150 is an excellent price for it. Does anyone know when Merimobles says "Deal Price" is that actually a limited time thing or will it always be that price?
Edit: Found under daily deals the price is good 'til June 30, Wonder what it is normally? Probably gonna get it, just a bit concerned because they are listing the storage as 8GB and most other sites including the ramos site says 16GB, 8GB is on the non-pro version. Everything else seems to be correct so it's probably just a typo.
Edit 2: maybe not a typo on 8GB? I found another site offering 8 or 16 options. MrTao.com Better price for the 8GB.Last edited by Lizz__20; Jun 29th, 2012 at 11:46 AM.

I'm really reconsidering if 8" is big enough to easily read magazines without zooming. Anyone who uses their tablet for this have some advice? Should I go with a bigger screen?

Oh I'm not really complaining about the time it takes for the shipping. I know it takes a long time and I don't get anxious because it takes such a long time, I just get anxious not knowing where my package is. So far Canada Post has been pretty quick and pretty up-to-date with the tracking at least by the end of the day.
Although I have to say, I caught the Canada Post mailwoman the second time delivering a package delivery notice today without the package as I was walking out my door today. She wasn't even going to ring my door bell. This is the 6th time I've received a delivery notice even though I've been home all day waiting for the packages.
