I've bought stuff from IKEA and its pretty good for what you pay ... if you have $1000 to spend on a bed than IKEA defiantely is the wrong place ... I bought a rot-iron queen size bed for ~$300 and its holding up pretty good ... I also got a $250 wooden double bed which is good too ...
Have you tried the BOMBAY store ?? not sure if you have them in BC ...

Cheap good modern furniture?
Anyone know of good places to shop for nice modern furniture?
I'm looking for a (queen size) bed, and I don't want to spend more than say 1000 bucks. But I don't want to get something from IKEA that will fall apart.
Vancouver area BTW.
I tried INspiration, but couldn't find anything I like. I checked out UpCountry, but they were too pricey. Scan Designs was nice, but they have a small selection and most things are on a very long backorder.
I went to Yaletown and checked out EQ3 and Design House... expensive for what they are...
Sandys,Jordans,United, all those do not carry what I'm looking for. So do you know any other good sources?_______________

Ikea is a ripoff, their furniture is terribly overpriced and then they tell you to assemble it yourself? IMO, its just another way to save on labour costs and pass on the benefits into profits.

For people in Eastern Canada (Quebec and parts of Ontario), there's a chain of stores called Structube that have great stuff (pre-assembled) for similar prices as IKEA. Check out their website at www.structube.com._______________
