Cheap place to buy pet medication?

I'm looking for an online pharmacy that supplies good deals on pet medicine, specifically, Tapazole hyperthyroidism pills for cats. Thanks!
How I try to save money: Koodo Mobile $29 30GB LTE / Teksavvy rCable $68 150 / Freephoneline $0 / No TV! / Flipp

I've used PetPharm. One medication my cat was prescribed was significantly cheaper with them. Service was great, very prompt and polite.

Thanks for posting the thread, btw.

I hadn't thought of checking my other cat's new prescription at PetPharm. Half the price I'm currently paying!!!

Thanks bonterra - although it looks like with the $10 dispensing fee and $8.50 shipping, PetPharm is $10 more than my local vet for Tapazole. :-/

Anyone try Universal Pet Meds? http://www.universalpetmeds.ca/

you might want to try a regular pharmacy. I get my prescriptions from the vet and fill them at Shoppers. (human grade drugs) I find it a lot cheaper.

+1

A lot of animal medication is the exact same stuff as human grade medication (but significantly marked up in comparison)

But sorry, not too sure about your specific medicine

Ask your vet for a written prescription and then take it to your regular pharmacy to get filled. If you have a Costco membership go there, my cousin fills her dog's prescriptions there. I am pretty sure the Walmart pharmacy will too. The medication you need is the exact same medication that a person would be prescibed so its something that would be stocked at any pharmacy.

I just watched the CBC Marketplace video. So basically any of the ailments that can affect humans, those drugs can likely be filled at your local pharmacy. But is it safe to say that drugs specifically for animal related ailments (i.e. heartworm and flea/tick prevention) will have to be bought at the vet's?

Also, on the CBC video, apparently there are places that are also "pet pharmacies". Are there any actual places like that in the Toronto area?

And it's too bad sites like 1800petmeds aren't as convenient for Canadians :( Although, ETA, universalpetmeds linked above seems to have a lot of potential. Need to google it to check it out.

Okay I found some reviews from blogs
http://pattydeloach.typepad.com/my_webl ... medic.html
http://pir-anha.livejournal.com/106557.html

There's also http://www.canadavet.com/ and http://www.doctorsolve.com/petdrugs.aspx (both are Canadian)
Oh wait, ironically, the canadavet site does not ship to Canada. WTF :(

Has anyone here actually used them? Looking for some RFD anecdotal experiences with any of the above 3 places. Apparently, or so I've read, that if you buy a med that is supposed to be preventative but the dog gets what it's supposed to prevent anyway, then the company will pay for treatment (I don't know if this is true, I haven't gotten that confirmed) and that some sites sell fake products. CanadaVet seems pretty legit but not sure about universalpetmeds because a good deal of the search results seem spammy =\

There are Canadian Pharmacies that sell Pet Medication as well as human medication.
There is a pharmacy in Markham, Ontario where you can walk in and get both and the price difference is anywhere from about 30-60% discount, sometimes even half the price of what the Veterinarian's charge for the same Medications, they can even compound for you pet's special needs....
They are called Canada Chemists and they have a website www.canadachemists.ca, I think they have another pharmacy in Ottawa as well.

And there is another one that ships all across Canada unlike the internet sites that say Canadian but are actually U.S. sites that won't ship to Canada. that one is called Pets Drug Mart, www.petsdrugmart.ca and they have really reasonable prices as well.

So after alot of searching on the web and reading about scams when purchasing pet medication I ordered 12X 2mL Rebolution Teal from thepetpharmacy.ca. I'll let you know how they do.

I had a prescription written by my vet. Which I have forwarded to them.

They are not the cheapest I found online. But they seem the most likely to not be a scam.

Guess I'll find out.

I liked this article: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-c ... -1.1304362

And I know this is bumping a really old post. But it is worth it if it helps other pet owners who are getting ripped off by vet clinics. I like my vet but feel I am getting screwed whenever I pay for meds or any emergency treatments.

So based on my last post, I can recommend thepetpharmacy.ca

They seem very professional. Medicine expiry is ~2 years away for a 12 month supply of Revolution.

Shipping was relatively quick.

Only complaint was that they sent it to my dog with my last name. with (Canine) in brackets. Postal worker didn't want to hand it over. Until I explained that the recipient was a dog.

I have just placed my first order with The Pet Pharmacy. It was literally 1/2 the price as compared to what I was getting gouged at the vet..... so I ordered 2! Yea! My only disappointment was that they charge (in my case) $12 shipping via CanadaPost. For those in the Vaughan/Concord area in GTA, you have the option of pick up, but only during business hours of 9-5, Monday-Friday.

FYI: the pet medication I ordered was called: Felimazole 2.5mg used to treat cats for hyper-thyroid disease. This is a pill that has to be taken for life.

I have casually been searching for an on-line petmed dispensary, but kept running into the road-block of "we don't ship to Canada". If anyone sees something even better than The Pet Pharmacy, let me know as I'd be interested in knowing what else is out there. Thank you Atannes for your post and recommendation!

Any online pharmacy sell Revolution Brown without a prescription. Vet is charging $150.00 for a 6 pack.
