With more and more HD sound sources, I thought toslink cables are becoming obsolete, since they can't handle Dolby TrueHd or DTS MA

Funny, I was just about to go out and buy a new toslink cable. The one I have plugged into my Xbox360 seems to be an issue, it's really weird, at certain volume / pitch it goes fuzzy/distorts. I didn't think that was possible for digital cables. It was fine for over a year, but now I'm in the market again
.
Last time I bought toslink, I just went to CC or Zellers. They sell cheap cables there. But this time I was checking NCIX's boxing deals and came across this:

$4 for a short optical cable. The optical cable is separated from the rest, so you can toss the rest. Shipping will probably kill it for non-Vancouverites, unless you're ordering more stuff from them. I'm going there to pick-up my other order anyway.

I would definitely recommend monoprice, great cables, great prices...
If you want a Toslink cable, I'd rather buy the cheaper one than the premium, i.e.

instead of

I just had the premium one break this week... the metal part is really solid, but the plastic connector inside broke. I also find that the metal part is too heavy.
I'd rather go with the simpler plastic connector.

Shipping from the US
The prices at monoprice.com are very good. Since this is coming from the US, what can I expect for extra fees (brokerage, duties etc...)? The total cost of my order including shipping by USPS is under $20.

Why can I recycle plastic soda bottles but not the plastic cap?
