Cheap voltage converters here or in HK?

I'm leaving to HK on Friday for a couple of weeks. I know my laptop is ok because the adapter says 100-240V on it or something like that. The issue is with the blow dryer and the straightener that my gf wants to bring back. They are both 125V I believe and if we plug that into the wall socket back in HK, I think it'll burn.

So the question is, are voltage converters cheaper here or in HK? So far the only one I've seen here is from TSCC and that's 40 bucks. Her straightener is only $100. I don't think it's really worth it to get a converter. Anyone have something that I can borrow? :P

I was told by a few friends that electronics and the such are much cheaper in HK then over here.

Try Wal-Mart for these type of things.

How long will you be going to HK for? I am planning a trip and was wondering where I can get good deals on ticket+hotel deals. Any ideas?

I think the voltage converter (transformer?) might be more expensive than a simple adapter, but it can be readily be found in HK. But if the hair straightener is $100, it might not be worth the risk to use some cheap crappy converter that can potentially burn it.

How about just have her not straighten her hair and wear a ponytail? That can look good too, lol.

You can get those at the Honest Ed in downtown Toronto cheap. You need one that is for 50W and over.
