Cheap way to buy and sell UK shares?

If you can, get ADRs. Just like buying US stuff.

If you can't, I don't know anywhere that charges less than 5 pounds a trade. Plus, you have to pay 0.5% stamp duty on purchases.

Interactive Brokers are the most global brokerage I know of in Canada. You can, I believe, buy LSE shares at Questrade (and probably everywhere), but it's a phone-in-pay-through-the-nose type deal.

I recommend Interactive Brokers. Have used them to buy UK stocks at GBP 6 per trade.
Cards:HSBC WE MC 1.5%/3% travel 0 FX MC acceptance 31 day med AF $49
CTC WE MC 3% grocery, 3.54% CTC, RA, billpay, AF $0
MBNA RWE 5.4% grocery/resto
Bank: EQ (1.5%)
