Virgin Mobile has free Call forwarding on their prepaid plans. Incoming texts are free, which is a bonus. I know some carriers still charge if you don't have a package.

If you get an Android, and connect to wifi, there are some slick apps that can forward texts to another number/email address. Do some searching.

Cheapest Call Forwarding Option
Scenario: 2 cell phones: (1) Personal (2) Work
Need: Want to forward all my calls from my personal line to my work.
Question: What is the cheapest option to do this? Also need to take into account the "days of service" as a part of the cost (ie. pay $15 and balance is good for 30 days, $25=120days, $100=365days)
I've looked at a few plans and the situation seems to be:
- call forwarding is not included in the plan
- call forwarding is included, but charged on a pay per use basis (so any calls forwarded would be charged at the per minute rate).
- call forwarding is included at a $3/mth charge
Any plans that provide unlimited call forwarding at a cheap rate per month/period?
Aside... it would also be nice to auto-forward SMS messages as well but I haven't found any feasible way to do this.

Thanks, this looks like a viable option. I couldn't find anything on whether call forwarding was unlimited or not so I will check into this. Do you know how the prepaid option works? How much do you need to pay and how long does the credit last? For example, for the $0.35/min option, how much do you need to pay to keep your line active?
This is an interesting option. The only thing that seems to be missing is text messaging. Is it possible to port a cell #? Seems like this is only for landline phone #'s.
Don't really need the ability to make calls with my personal line. Would just like to receive all the calls to my personal line onto my work line. Good to know that there is an app to do this though. Thx!

Even solo mobile appears to change for call forwarding per minute, and even on their unlimited plans.

So I've been looking and right now, seems to me that Wind has the cheapest option right now. It's $15/mth and includes unlimited call forwarding.

I'm really surprised that more people haven't chimed in or have any solutions to this... I'm sure I'm not the only one with 2 cell phones that want to merge into one. They should start making dual-sim phones standard now.

Call forwarding on ALL prepaid plans (regardless of carrier) is counted towards your minutes.
Only post-paid plans give you 2-3000 free call forwarding minutes.
Your cheapest option if public mobile $20 for unlimited calling and call forwarding.
Mobilicity's 17.50 for 1 year, then $35/month is another option as it also includes call forwarding.
Wind's $25/month plan includes call forwarding.

What about doing the opposite? Wind currently offers free incoming on it's pay as you go... forward your work phone to your personal phone. Or port your number to a voip provider and call forward to your work number.
