Chick Lit

I'm winding down on the final book in the Shopaholic series which I have adored. I'm sad there isn't anything more for me to read in the series!

I was wondering if anyone who has read the Shopaholics has read the "Something Borrowed" and "Something Blue" by Emily Griffith? I've seen them at Indigo and it caught my eye. Just wondering if I'll love it as much as Shopaholic?

Or if there are other recommendations I'd love to know! I'm also contemplating reading Twilight just to figure out what the hype is about it.

I saw Twilight the movie and adored it. Ordered the series off of Amazon and it's going to take 2 months to get in. If the book is anything like the movie it should be amazing. I read the first page of the first book and it has a great intro. Looking forward to it immensely.

i've read all those books... and more

basically, if you like the Shopaholic books, you'll enjoy all the other books by Sophie Kinsella (Remember Me?, Can you keep a secret?, Undomestic Goddess, etc.)

for the Emily Giffin books, i personally only reallyyy enjoy Something Borrowed. Something Blue is pretty good and a continuation of Something Borrowed. her latest book is alright too.

as for the Twilight series, i'm currently on Eclipse and to be honest "all the hype" is just that. the books are super sappy and in my opinion, pretty badly written but they're also kind of a guilty pleasure that you just want to finish because you've started already.

some other reads i recommend are, the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series, Chasing Harry Winston, Sex and the City, and The Devil Wears Prada.

Sophie Kinsella also has another book called "The Gatecrasher", in which she wrote under her real name, Madeleine Wickham.

Also, I've heard nothing but good things about Emily Giffin's books.

I don't know if I'd classify it as chick lit, but the Stephanie Plum series from Janet Evanovich is hilarious - I read these books over and over again, and still laugh out loud every time

I've read the shopoholic series maybe about 3-4 years ago and I read Something Borrowed and Something Blue last year ... I hardly read books and I couldn't put down Something Borrowed when I first read it after reading it I had to read Something Blue just to see what happened... it was ok but I still enjoyed it...

So I would recommend at least reading Something Borrowed, it was really cute and funny

I flipped through some pages of Twilight at Costco...it did seem cheesy from the pages I happened to read. The girl was freaking out because she broke up with the guy. I guess it's for younger audiences.

I've been a Sophie Kinsella fan for years and I had no idea it wasn't her real name! I just looked up "Madeleine Wickham" and it seems she's written quite a few books with her real name.. have you read any of the other ones?

I wonder what's the reasoning behind using a pseudonym for some books and not others.

Also to OP, don't worry, your shopaholic fix isn't over - Confessions of a Shopaholic the movie is coming out next month! Although they did change it so that it's based in America instead of the UK (lame).

Yeah I am excited to see the movie! But yeah I noticed in a trailer it's based in the US so it isn't totally true to the book

I just finished my book and have read through the snippet of "Remember Me?" which seems fun too. I'll take a trip to the bookstore sometime soon
