Child Care Benefit Income Question

Hey all,

My wife and I have been talking about having a child. My wife might take the full year for mat leave, which she wasn't considering before.

This year our combined income will be close to $300k. However, this is variable from year to year because I have two jobs - one is in real estate sales, which is inconsistent, and the other is a contract academic position that renews annually IF they have the grant money.

My understanding of the CCB is that it is based on the previous year's family income. Our income could drop to $70k or something when we have a newborn. Am I correct that, regardless of that, we wouldn't be eligible based on my previous year? We would only be eligible in the second year if my wife decided not to go back to work?

Cheers

Over $200k gross and you get nothing.

In July, you get CCB based on the previous year's income, so there would be a delay before you get it.

CCB doesn't pay as much as work, so I would not suggest your wife stop working to collect CCB.
