China Buffet, completely closed down?

Yonge & just south of Major Mac. - I think it's still there.

It's has been downhill for the last 10+ yrs. Getting worse & worse. Last visited probably 3 yrs ago at this location. I remembered when it was first opened 20 yrs ago or so, huge lineup and food was alright and not sure what happened as years went by.

order a few dishes
and share the food (using serving spoons) with your friends / family

I loved that place. Used to go to town on the cheap dim sum lunches

^ At least 5 yrs ago. It has since changed hands at least couple more times already. Visited the latest setup about 6 months ago and the food was terrible. Please don't bother to go there.

Huh? I'm pretty sure I was there sometime in 2010. Or do you mean that the original CBK closed five years ago, and it's just been a bunch of wannabees since then?

Is the current setup operating under the same name?

Is it so?? When this place first opened it was actually quite good. But that was long ago, after going here some 10 or 15 times later. Place was basically okay.

We've really stopped going to china buffet unless it's for a big dinner just for the ease of it, even when we do we'd rather go to starwalk.

There is another one that opened in the same place at Warden and 401. Been there . not to bad

The one at Warden and 401 beside the HoJo's used to be good 5 years ago, they have changed ownership earlier this year I was told. My parents said it wasn't bad, we haven't tried it yet to rate it.

The whole point of going to a Chinese Buffet is to gorge yourself on Americanized Chinese food to the point of near illness. Maximizing every cent of the $16.99 buffet charge is the challenge. The key is not to fast before going as that will involve shrinkage of the stomach so less will be able to be pushed in. Going to an authentic Chinese restaurant to have a few dishes with friends is fine but can get expensive and it also has nothing to do with the Buffet World - two words that causes drooling and a fierce competitive urge to challenge my friends to Chinese Buffet Eat Off aka - CBEO!

Although depending on the particular buffet you go to, the food may not be particularly Americanized (except perhaps the token pizza and fries for kids and adults who don't know any better) and can easily stack up to food in "authentic" Chinese restaurants. That's what I loved about CBK back in its glory days.

And of course, the trick is to gorge yourself with as much food as possible in the first 20 minutes, before your body's bio-feedback mechanism has had a chance to figure out that you're actually full from the stomach distension
