I won't go back to this place again. They are sub par. Food usually been sitting for awhile. Greasy spoon. You get what you pay for.

Ate there before long ago and I wouldn't go back there either. Mandarin is still the best.

I agree, Mandarin is still the best, although I have never been to China Buffet before. Still plan to give it a try, of course with a more watchful eye now.
I will go when they first open, that way there the food will be freshly cooked. I guess everybody voices their own opinions about certain places. I've heard of people saying the same thing about the Mandarin, and yet, every time I have gone there, I had to complaints,......the food was great as usual.

Not a big fan of mandarin. They are expensive and the food selection is not very good.
Starwalk or china buffet king is much better. I've never tried "china buffet".

I thought this thread is about China Buffet "King" for a second...
So basically for me, I will go to Mandarin if I want good quality food and Starwalk/China Buffet King if I want to go for food selection. .
Never heard of China Buffet, but that pricing scheme does seem suspicious...You get what you pay for I suppose.

Newbie
I was at Imperial Buffet on Dixie and Dundas for lunch this past weekend and was impressed with the selection and quality - I thought it was better Mandarin. and I love Mandarin.

This place isn't so bad. The service isn't the greatest, nor is the ambiance but the food is good. I find the food better than Mandarin but it just doesn't have anywhere near the same selection. It also doesn't have the same price. BTW most of the Mandarin's food is greasy, fried crap. Mandarin has better desserts. But this is a great alternative to Mandarin especially when you don't want to eat as much. We went at Christmas when Mandarin wanted $17.99 for lunch and this place wanted $5.99. My nephews really like this place.

The days of cheap (as $$) buffets were over. Everything has gone up. If you find sub $10 place, just watch out as someone mentioned above.

I've never been to "Starwalk" or "China King" before, I do plan on going next time out. Are these two recommended? I've been to "Imperial" with my entertainment book coupons, but, I ended up going there late and everything was dry.I will give it a second chance though at a more appropriate time. I do like Mandarin except for the fact that they do have a lot battered and fried food, and by the time you want desert, you're stuffed like an egg roll and you can hardly move.I swear to god that some of these restaurants lace their food with something to make you feel bloated, so you don't eat as much.
Like I said before, everyone seems to have their opinion for each particular place. In my opinion, the best time to go to one of these buffets is when they first open in the morning or lunch time,.....one can better evaluate the place when the food is fresh. It's not their fault really when the food sits a little too long and it dries out, but, they should have someone there to at least stir it so drying is at a minimum.
Happy dining!!!
I am looking for a place to stay somewhere in the GTA for the months of July and August. I have been staying at motels every time I go, and I would like to cut my cost down a little. My stay might become permanent, as I do want to get out of the Sudbury area. My wife and my son really love what the Toronto area has to offer, and we really want to move there permanently.Sudbury has nothing to offer kids except for Burger King and MacDonald's playland. If you know of any place can you PM me with the information? Thanks! I will pay in advance.
