I know I'm stereotyping but why ignore the statistics?
For all you Asians and people from certain European countries who are still reaping the benefits from Mom's home cooking, free laundry, and no rent\mortgage, this ones for you!

If you are over the age of 25, and have a decent career, don't you think its time to leave the warm nest and go out on your own? Isn't it embarrasing when you try to bring a girl\guy home to Mommy and Daddy's basement? Wouldn't it feel better to be an empowered adult who doesn't rely on handouts?

I would think that they would interview the parents, friends and family to confirm this before they choose the person.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked boonjaca for this post.

(some/most?) south asians actually prefer their kids to stay with them past 25... that's just how their culture is.
i am putting a "some/most" in front of the above since i'm not really sure which Indian subcultures are big on that, and which have gotten more "westernized".LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked konfusion666 for this post.

You sound like the perfect candidate for this show, stop making excuses! You don't pay for anything you moocher! Hahaha,
But seriously, of course their are exceptions for various reason be it cultural or situational. For example, one may need to stay at home because Mom is alone and doesn't speak English. In this case it makes it very difficult for you to leave home without feeling guilt.
Or your parent's may not let you leave based on the argument, "How will this look to others in our community. You are a bad son for leaving me alone".
I know some Chinese\Vietnamese people who pay rent to their parents, but if your going to pay rent don't you think you would want to put it towards a place of your own where you have the freedom to be an adult?
Anyway, I'd like to steer this discussion more towards the collective of individuals who live at home, have a career, don't pay rent, and recieve some handouts from their parents but still refuse to move out.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked Japo for this post.

I don't think you understand the culture of it.
its a communal thing that the home is cramped full of relatives, sons, and daughters.
Usually these people send out some money to their parents to help cover expenses... This is also how some families get rich. They pool in resources to pay off mortgage bills faster. Then they can start building valuable assets._______________

Your missing the point, I'm talking about people who stay at home and use the "no-cost habitation" basically as a way to have fun, and buy cool stuff.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked Japo for this post.
