Quick question: I know that we are using WCDMA 850 and 1900 (Rogers/Bell)
But if we had an option to have only either one, which one is more preferable? i.e. 850/2100 phone vs 900/1900/2100 phone.

Preferable = more 3G coverage in GTA.

850Mhz spectrum travels much farther and has better penetration in terms of buildings.

That's the dream, some day. Those phones are expensive, though.

Not all of them. P8 Lite isn't too much more than the top no-name phones.

Yeah, but you're still paying a pretty hefty premium for that Huawei name, looking strictly at the specs of that bad boy.

Also, it's kind of a pain getting one of those shipped to Canada (at least, the Americas version)

What's the go-to cheap phone at the moment? I was looking at the Elephone P6000, but it sounds like it isn't reliable on the Bell network.

P6000 doesn't support 3G on *any* Canadian networks. I haven't really been keeping up with the cheapy cheap phones though... I think there's some MLais sales going on, but it's hard to get in on the super sale prices (they go out of stock almost right away).

I know this isnt a smart phone but I figured this is the best place to post it. My review on the Zeblaze Rover Smart Watch.

Thanks a ton for doing such a thourough and detailed review - I'm considering a p8000, and seeing how decently the p7000 performs is pretty reassuring.

Is there anyone else here considering the p8000 pre-order?

Someone will correct eme if I'm wrong, but I don't think the 8000 supports the same bands as the 7000, and may not work in Canada. I could be wrong.

I have the 7000 - I must say the Elephone build quality wasn't as good as the Ulefone be pro. Great specs but very weak chassis. Bends easy which causes the glass to separate.

The ROM is also pretty terrible, but there are ROM options. CM12.1 beta option is out, but I couldn't get sim 2 slot to connect to 3G with it.

I'm considering the Ulefone be touch 2 next.

The P8000 doesn't have the 850 WCDMA band. I don't recommend it for Canada.
Thanks for watching :) don't forget to subscribe to my youtube channel :D

I have to admit, it looks very similar, specs and all, I like the visuals of the p8000 better...

According to specout (http://smartphones.specout.com/compare/ ... hone-P8000), they both have the same carrier support.

The thing that I am most concerned about is the month-or-two wait times that people are enduring to get the p7000. It's pretty likely the p8000 will be just as long a wait.

EDIT - Scratch that, Redskulll corrected me :p. - Also, Yep, subscribed. Keep up the good work!

I feel like the many hours a day I spent on researching a good chinese phone was a complete waste of time. It would of been better spent doing overtime at work so I could buy a couple of these phones instead and try it out for real. every one of them seems to have one dealbreaker flaw.

I have to agree - there is about a million different ones, with the best ones overpriced, or only rarely available.

It's like trying to find a date in a bar the size of costco... :|
