Dear Tom,

Ummm, you are about 2+ weeks out of sync with the rest of us.
(Ie... You might want to flip the page on your Calendar ... or go out & buy a new one)

I suggest you plead your case in the RFD Forums... another 300+ Days from now.

When folks are more apt to listen, and you may score some converts

Not sure about other areas but Christmas trees picked up around here get chipped up and reused as mulch, ground cover, etc.

How else is you to cook a turkey if you don't kill it first? Eat it raw, cook it alive? I don't think so.
As for the Christmas tree, ours goes to the city who mulches and composts them. Got a better idea?

Or are you subtly suggesting we all become vegans. And have Christmas trees made out of? Metal? Plastic/oil?

Both are renewable resources.

But I agree somewhat - it seemed like a good idea for a few hundred thousand people but making some of this stuff scale to hundreds of millions or billions is raping the planet.

People are also a renewable resource... Actually the human race is a renewable resource, but people don't want to hear that. Funny that people are so obsessed with saving the planet when the facts are that the planet WILL survive. It is the people on it who won't.

No matter what the future holds, there is absolutely nothing the current race could do to change its destiny. We haven't globally reached a level of evolution that could prevent our own elimination. People live in a world where they think there is no consequences to their actions. As long as it is "legal" then everything is fine. Children think this way.
So what are you suggesting again?

Hate turkey. Prefer roast beef.
