I thought it was a great movie, but I am into those dark, villian is the good guy type movies, (which is why I like From Dusk Till Dawn so much). I think Diesels bombshell was XXX that movie was pure shite IMHO. One thing they could have gotten rid of in Riddick was the chick though, they always ruin movies having characters like that.

They even cut out a scene they showed in the trailer, showing riddicks power of some sort, you know he's crouched on the ground then opens his arm and body (looks like in pain or somerhign) and energy eminates from him pushing away his enemies. I dunno why they cut out something like that, it seems like some important unknown power of the furions

Saw it today, and thought it was okay (although I was a little dissapointed). I'd give it a C+
Spoilers.....
First off, did anyone get a feeling of themes from Dragonball (the prophecy of the Furions and why their planet was destroyed) and from Conan (at the end w/ the throne)??
A couple of things bothered me:
1. What's with the eyes? How come the other Furion (the one who walked into the sunlight) didnt have eyes like Riddick?
2. On that prison planet, temps reached 700degrees. I dont care if the sunlight touched him or not (which it obviously did), but even if you werent in direct contact with the light, wouldnt you get baked to death?
3. Action sequences and the shaky camera... just didnt like it at all.
4. Hated the ending

1. Eyes were kool...
2. ON some planets, The other side of teh planet is COld w/out sun (ie. mars w/ no atmosphere) so really hot + cold = warm?

Jun 19th, 2004 01:11 AM #22you had to have seen pitch black, basically riddick had the surgery so he could survive prison or something... not sure the exact reason, but they are artificial

Jun 19th, 2004 01:12 AM #23Don't you recall from pitch black, he got a surgeon or something to rig up his badass "shinevision" for when he got thrown in the slammer. Keeps his behymen intact in those dark corners!

Jun 19th, 2004 01:35 AM #24I thought so... but in the prison scene with Jack/Keira, didnt she say that there was no doctor to give 'moonshine'? I just assumed that the whole doctor thing was just a 'story' Riddick told Jack.

You can play the Chronicles of Riddick game. In the beginning you have no moonshine but you get it further in the story after surgery. Great action flick. I enjoyed it. It's kinda freaky having that little sister/love interest dynamic going. Kinda gross.
BTW, did anyone else think she looked like a skinnier version of that chick from Evanescence?Last edited by sfu_lifer; Jun 19th, 2004 at 06:07 AM.

Saw it this weekend.
Really liked it.
Could have cut a lot of the Bounty Hunter/Prison stuff though.

Well I finally got around to watching the director's cut of this movie on DVD. I have to say that I enjoyed it a lot. Great action, good intro, excellent music, some pretty good acting, great special effects and I loved the one-liners. I was never bored throughout the entire movie. At first, I didn't think this movie would be that great since the last Vin Diesel movie I saw, Triple X, really sucked. After watching this movie, I'm itchin' to see Pitch Black.
The ending was kind of odd though. I mean, how can they make a 3rd Riddick movie with an ending like that?_______________
What do I type here?

I liked it, but they tried way too hard. All of the mythology they tried to shove down our throats, only served to slow the movie down.
Other than Riddick and Kyra, I didn't even care about the other characters. There was no Radha Mitchell (forgot her character name) this time around; the other "good guys" were bland and quickly extinguished.
There may be another 2 to make a Riddick trilogy, based on DVD sales...see how that goes.
