Originally I thought, sure, 2.3% is good. $5,000 balance... OK, I can live with that. Then you get into the FEES.... They charge for almost everything! Hmmm... Transfer your money to another CIBC account is free, yeah. But other transactions, such as Cheques, Withdrawals (including ATM), Transfers, Pre-authorized payments, Bill payments, Debit purchases, all incur $5 for each transaction! OUCH.

anyway to get these saving account fees waived? seems excessive $5 per transaction. Even RBC offers one ATM withdraw per month in their savings account, and they are real blood suckers.

CIBC has a 1-free-withdrawal savings account:

You can open one and transfer to it, or convert your eAdvantage to this, then withdraw.

just applied online but still need to go to the branch. Do I need to book an appointment or simply go to the teller anytime?

also is there a deposit limit(upper bound) on earning the bonus rates?

No appointment needed. Just go to teller.
