Free 30 minutes Car Rental - Toronto

Deal Link:
Retailer:
Communauto
I have recently noticed Communauto vehicles parked around Toronto and the promotion for new users.
Launch offer: Get 30 minutes FREE every trip of your first month!*
Even insurance is waived if the credit card used for booking has Auto Rental Collision coverage.

Just surprised that there wasn't a post about it.
From what I can see, it's completely free to try, unless I'm missing something.
If anyone has tried it, care to share the experience?

Started the application. Looks like you need to order an abstract from Service Ontario for $12? And I also don't see a way to see where cars are parked, how many cars, etc before applying so might be a pass for me.

Great find and thanks for sharing anyway OP!

Edit: looks like I can see cars in app. All south of Dupont/Danforth.

In order to sign up for this you have to order your driving history from the MTO or somewhere, which costs $12. Or you can authorize this company to order it for you for the same cost. Honestly I'm kinda pissed off over this. It's fair to need this information, and to expect us to pay. It's not cool to make me create an account and take pix of my licence and upload them and whatever else and THEN say this, so I've just wasted a lot of work for nothing.

Thye have always required people to get the drivers abstract back to when vrtucar launched in 2000. Only takes a mintue to get it. Everyone with carshare does it, the others charge a higher fee and do it themself

I have to admit the driver's abstract was the biggest barrier to me when I first heard of them launching. And I think I emailed them as said as much.

The new 2018 Hyundai Accent is a very nice car though, with good crash test ratings and android auto/apple carplay compatibility.
