since we no longer send mail via snailmail, is including the address of the company as part of the cover letter still required?
i know it will make it more professional, but say one was applying for a company and their mailing address is not listed and googling produces no results, is it ok to omit the mailing address section?

My cover letters are about as basic as they get, I go under the impression that the formalities are all but dead now a days. These people are busy and want to be able to skim over my CV quickly to see where i'm from, why I'm sending them my CV, and why I think that its the job for me. Keep the riff raf out of the application.

I don't think it really matters either way. There have been times when I've included the company's address on my cover letter, and times when I haven't. With either format, I've both received and been rejected from interviews, so I doubt it's important when other factors matter more.

If you coverletter is written as a word document attachment then you should write it as a formal letter with the proper headings and salutations and stuff. If you are simply writing it as an email then yeah you can omit it.
I think the former is the better way to go. It's always better to make a good impression. At least it wouldn't hurt._______________
You read it. You can't unread it.
