Computer power consumption calculator
I am currently using the Vostro 200 with Celeron D 420. I was wondering, if I were to upgrade the CPU to something like E6550 and video card to something like 8600GTS, will the current 300W power supply be enough?
I used the calculator on http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine, it says the recommended PSU wattage is only 200W, that's pretty low, but I'm still a bit suspicious.
Thanks for answering.

hmm...the recommended minimum wattage from asus is 250....I guess 300 would still be enough then?

It really depends on the quality of your PSU. Some 300W PSU's are total junk, others are good quality and could easily handle that load.
I'd suspect that a run-of-the-mill cheapo 300W PSU manufactured a few years ago would be inadequate.
