I suggest that you purchase your PC parts from NCIX. If you spent $1000, you would not need to pay the PST saving you approximately $80 right there which could be used towards better parts.
In addition, you can price match at NCIX while you cannot price match at Canada Computers. You can try to price match at Tigerdirect, but whenever I did try to price match there, I always had a hard time and the manager had to get involved. I felt like I was pulling teeth out of a whiney child's mouth!
That being said, here is what I suggest:

Computer setup for under $1000
Hi,
Can anyone help me to put together a desktop PC (budget less than $1000), which includes everything (LCD monitor, mouse/keyboard, speakers).
I will be using the PC for general purposes and for gaming, but do not need an extreme gaming PC.
I am thinking about going to the local Tigerdirect or Canada computer store to just compare prices, good idea?
I understand Windows 7 is coming out soon, but since I need a new PC now...I will be forced to purchase Vista. What are the suppliers currently doing about this situation?
Also, I have been considering getting both PC and TV to be HDMI compatible. I am currently hooking up my LCD monitor cord to my LCD TV to watch movies on the TV (being played on my PC), but audio is coming from the PC speakers. Is there some multimedia centres that can give me this functionality so that both Audio and Video is played through my TV? Or should I go with the HDMI route?
Thanks for any help.

Your setup forgot the monitor and your RAM doesn't fit. AMD uses dual channel still.

You're welcome.
With regards to your Windows Vista/Windows 7 question.
If you purchased Windows Vista between late June and the Windows 7 release date, you are entitled to a free Windows 7 upgrade.
Check with your supplier prior to purchase.
Good luck.

No problems, are you sure you only want a 19" monitor? For $20 more you can have a 22" monitor, it would be worth the extra few bucks.

you can also check out the asus monitors if you want as they have some mail in rebates going on. I'm not sure its its the lowest price but newegg is a good place to start for PM if you want to go this route.
if you wanna get a cheaper 22" lcd, you can pm this http://www.canadacomputers.com/index...881&cid=MT.282Last edited by SLX4; Jul 13th, 2009 at 03:09 PM.
