computer sound stops working after couple hours???
as title states.
my computer would be on, playing music and after a couple hours of idling, no sound would work on the computer.
as i restart the computer, the sounds work again as it makes the windows sounds when it restarts. after the restart, the sound is back to normal and after a couple hours, it happens again. any idea how to fix this guys?
thanks in advanced.

What kind of music are you playing in what program, and what kind of soundcard do you have?

Sounds like an overheat problem. It happened on my old nForce 2 motherboard before. Once I put a heatsink on the southbridge, everything worked fine.

computer is pretty new. im not using a hightech soundcard or anything, just a standard one. a restart just makes it work all over again

Try updating the audio drivers?

It may be a software/driver issue. That's the first thing I'd look in to, since it's the easiest.
I've seen it happen before. After a certain period of time, an auto update would kick in, faulty drivers would be updated, and consequently sound would stop working.
On restart, the old drivers are reactivated, and everything works. Rinse and repeat.
